There's a new commander at Red River Army Depot in Hooks. Colonel Christopher Masson officially took command Thursday, becoming the depot's 46th commander during a traditional change-of-command ceremony.
Masson succeeds Colonel Denis Fajardo, who is heading to a new assignment at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Masson says he'll focus on production, people and safety while leading the depot through continued modernization, including advanced manufacturing and military drone production.
He also says the recent hiring freeze has been lifted, helping the depot meet military readiness goals and secure its workforce of about 3,000 employees.
